Disturbed es una banda americana formada en 1996.
En sus inicios, fueron clasificados como un grupo de nu metal, actualmente su música tiende más hacia el metal alternativo. En una entrevista a David Draiman, cantante del grupo, al preguntarle acerca de que los fans más inclinados hacia el heavy metal no encontraban a Disturbed lo suficientemente "heavy", respondió: "We probably have too much melody going on or we're not quite as turbulent or caustic. While I really love that type of music, it's not what we try to do. If we have to place things in context, we're more hard rock than heavy metal these days."
El sonido de Disturbed ha sido comparado con el de bandas como Metallica, Slipknot o Pantera. Con su primer álbum ("The Sickness") se les comparó a bandas como Korn, pero a partir de entonces ha ido evolucionando.
"Ten Thousand Fists" es el tercer disco de estudio de Disturbed. Con él la banda ha girado del heavy metal anterior a un hard rock con la inclusión de solos de guitarra y unas canciones más complejas.
En la portada del álbum, creada por Todd McFarlane, aparece "The Guy", es esta la primera vez que este personaje, que ha sido adoptado como la mascota de la banda (el guitarrista de la banda, Dan Donegan, lo lleva tatuado en su brazo derecho), aparece en la portada de uno de sus discos. Posteriormente "The Guy" volvería a aparecer en la portada de su cuarto álbum ("Indestructible").
"Stricken" es la quinta canción de "Ten Thousand Fists", y también sería el segundo sencillo del álbum. La canción también aparecería en un directo en la Riviera como un "bonus track" del cuarto disco del grupo.
Según David Dreiman, la canción trata de: "About those moments when someone comes into your life and it's almost as if you've been afflicted with a disease you can't get rid of, devastating and debilitating."
El cantante está asolado, herido por lo que le hizo una mujer a la que ama y a la que no puede dejar marchar, pese a que le resulta destructiva. No se puede perdonar a sí mismo por lo pasado, como si él tuviera la culpa de su desdicha.
El vídeo de la canción fue rodado en un hospital abandonado, hospital que aparece en una escena de la película "Pesadilla en Elm Street".
